About CHUO

After broadcasting on cable and on campus since 1984, CHUO was granted an FM license by the CRTC, and settled in to it's space at 89.1 FM on May 31, 1991. In June of 2006 we celebrated our 15th Anniversary.

CHUO is defined by our volunteers. These dedicated individuals devote their time to creating top quality programming, continually re-establishing CHUO's identity.

Music, information, community. That's CHUO

Interim Station Manager: Erin Flynn
Round 4 at CHUO and still loving it! It is hard to believe that it was in 1996 that I first joined the CHUO team! I was Production Coordinator and we still edited on Reel to Reel with razor blades and splicing tape!

Program Director: HIRING Interested? Please submit your résumé to the Hiring Committee via email erin@chuo.fm Deadline for application is Friday September 10 at 5pm EST. CHUO reserves the right to re-open the competition after this date if an insufficient number of applicants are received. No phone calls please. CHUO is an equal-opportunity contractor. People from all cultures, backgrounds, and abilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Due to the nature of the work, there will special consideration given to francophone applicants.

English Music Director: Joni Sadler
Joni Sadler became involved with campus radio well before she was of age to watch many of her favourite bands perform in the venues of Victoria, BC. After hosting shows at both CFUV and CKCU, she took on the role of CHUO’s English Music Director. Over the past three years, she has represented the station at SXSW, Pop Montreal, and was a panelist on the Music Directors’ Summit at CMJ 2009. That same year, she was also the winner of a CMJ award for best taste in music. When she’s not busy hunting out new sounds and playing music of her own, she can be found working on her thesis in hopes of someday finishing her Master’s in communications at Carleton University.

French Music Director: David (D-TRACK) Dufour
You can call him "David", "D-track" or "le gros" as people might say in his hometown of Gatineau regardless you'll find him working away on finding teh best francophone music for you. In addition to his position at CHUO, you can hear David’s voice as the host of the show "Au Coeur d’la rue" every Thursday night, or you might run across him at the university when he transforms himself into a communication student. If you like music then you will certainly get along with David!

Production Coordinator: Maxime Brunet
Maxime is wise beyond her years and has finely-tuned ear for audio detail. She produces our ads, show promos, station ids, as well as trains volunteers to stregnthen CHUO's ever-expanding army of production wizards and/or warlocks.

Sales & Marketing Director: Karen McHarg
Karen is an enthusiastic community radio prophesier who can’t help but convince you of the power of CHUO. She claims community radio, and CHUO in particular, changed her life; but she was in India when she said that, so who really knows! Her passion is infectious and we seem to do alright with her out on the street drummin’ up sales to help the station pay its bills. Give her a call!

Jambo Director: Jean-Marie Vianney

Marketing Assistant Director: Fabrice Wanji Nemzou
DO NOT believe everything you will hear in the coming years about Fabrice... DO NOT fall for that, I beg! He was not brought up in Abidjan. No he is not the dude with the European flair always donning bright pieces of clothing. No he certainly is not the guy who has spent most of his post teen years travelling to and living in 4 to 5 countries across three continents. No that's not him you think of when in need of a good hear and some hearty laughs. And, he definitely is not as reliable and dedicated a person you will ever meet. Most of all he is not FABRAH!
